UR Whiteboard Demo

Overview

This case study outlines the design, development, and execution of a robotic whiteboard drawing system utilizing a Universal Robot (UR). The demonstration showcases the precision, flexibility, and accessibility of UR’s collaborative robotic platform when enhanced with intuitive software automation.

To create an interactive and autonomous system where a UR robotic arm can draw text and graphics on a whiteboard. The solution had to be modular, user-friendly, and demonstrate key automation principles including:

  • Remote robot programming and control
  • Custom drawing from live user input
  • Geometric accuracy and calibration
  • Integration with CAD/script-based drawing workflows

The UR Whiteboard Demo exemplifies how industrial-grade robotic arms can be transformed into accessible, educational, and visually impactful tools using custom software integration. This project highlights not only the UR’s capabilities but also the potential of low-cost, Python-based control systems in automating human-centric tasks.
